Delete Your Data
Important: SwiftSearch Does Not Have User Accounts
SwiftSearch is a standalone macOS application that operates entirely offline. We do not maintain user accounts, store personal data on servers, or require registration. All your data exists only on your Mac.
What Data Does SwiftSearch Store?
SwiftSearch stores the following data locally on your Mac:
- Search index database containing file paths and names
- Application preferences and settings
- List of folders you've chosen to index
- License information in macOS Keychain (for purchased users)
How to Delete All SwiftSearch Data
Method 1: Complete Uninstall (Recommended)
- Quit SwiftSearch if it's running
- Open Finder and go to your Applications folder
- Find SwiftSearch and drag it to the Trash
- Empty your Trash to complete the removal
- This will remove the app and all associated data
Method 2: Manual Data Deletion (Advanced)
- Quit SwiftSearch if it's running
- Open Finder and press Cmd + Shift + G
- Enter: ~/Library/Application Support/
- Find and delete the "SwiftSearch" folder
- Go to ~/Library/Preferences/
- Delete any files starting with "com.springarc.swiftsearch"
- Open Keychain Access and remove any SwiftSearch entries
Clear Search Index Only
If you want to keep using SwiftSearch but clear your search index:
- Open SwiftSearch
- Go to Settings/Preferences
- Click "Clear Index" or "Reset Database"
- This removes all indexed file information while keeping the app installed
What Happens After Deletion?
Once you delete SwiftSearch data:
- All indexed file information is permanently removed
- Your settings and preferences are deleted
- If you reinstall, you'll need to re-index your folders
- Purchased licenses remain tied to your Apple ID and can be restored
App Store Purchases
If you purchased SwiftSearch through the Mac App Store:
- Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID
- Deleting the app does not delete your purchase history
- You can re-download the app anytime from the App Store
- To remove purchase history, contact Apple Support
Privacy Commitment
Since SwiftSearch operates entirely offline and we don't collect any user data, there is no information about you stored on our servers. When you delete the app from your Mac, all traces of your usage are removed from your device.
